The Board of Commissioners for the Housing Authority of the City of Fort Lauderdale is authorized to include seven members. The Mayor of the City of Fort Lauderdale appoints each member to serve a four-year term. The main responsibility of the Board of Commissioners includes creating a vision and direction for the Housing Authority and approving policies and procedures. Commissioners ensure that the Housing Authority operates within the law and according to HUD regulations. The Board elects a chairman and vice-chairman each year at the annual meeting. The current members of the Board of Commissioners are as follows:


CHAIR

Jason Kaye

Jason Kaye is a Managing Director at Greystone Housing Impact Investors where he focuses on the origination and structuring of affordable housing debt products nationwide. His experience in community development finance includes affordable housing debt and LIHTC equity, State, Historic and New Markets Tax Credits, syndications, CRA-focused private equity, CDFI investments, as well as private placement and Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and FHA debt products. He held similar roles at Regions Bank, Bank of America and Citigroup. He started his career with the New York City Economic Development Corporation and worked on Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s “South Bronx Initiative” to redevelop and revitalize the South Bronx.


VICE CHAIR

Dr. Ty Richardson

With over 24 years of professional career experience, Ty started his career working with a Fortune 100 company and climbed the corporate ladder holding positions such as Branch Manager and Head of Business Development for a Credit Union, before leaving as a Regional Operations Manager overseeing European & Asia-Pacific call center operations to head to Silicon Valley, in order to launch a social network while coaching start-up tech founders. Failing to meet the “hockey stick curve”, Ty pivoted and spent three years as a digital nomad in the Caribbean building a six-figure marketing agency before returning to the U.S. and to finance, launching a commercial loan brokerage serving real estate investors and entrepreneurs alike. Today, Ty, in addition to his finance and marketing ventures, runs the YoPro Global Foundation, and a coaching practice, while providing business strategies to clients within another nine-figure global coaching organization. Ty also serves as a Board of Director for the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, where he also Chairs the Rising Leaders Council; a member of the Board of Governors of the Fort Lauderdale Tower Club, where he Chairs the Purposeful Programming Council; and an Advisor to Animae Caribe Digital Arts Festival based in the Caribbean.


RESIDENT COMMISSIONER

Nicole Blake

Nicole Blake has worked in the Housing industry for over the last 5 years and has over 15 years of experience in customer service, implementing, and operating in various administrative fields. Her background includes a master’s degree in public administration from Nova Southeastern University with honors. She obtained an undergraduate degree in Supervision and Management from Broward College in 2017 and several certifications in business management, accounting technology, operational management, HCV rent calculation, and home health aide. Continuing to enjoy engaging within the community helping those in need with food drives, and sponsoring events to help those that need assistance.

Susan Grant - Commissioner

Susan Grant

Susan Grant brings more than 35 years of local government leadership, financial management, and public service experience to the City of Fort Lauderdale Housing Authority. She retired in April 2026 after a career that included leadership roles with the City of Fort Lauderdale, City of Aventura, and City of Coral Springs. Susan joined the City of Fort Lauderdale in 2019, serving as Finance Director, Assistant City Manager, and Acting City Manager. Prior to that, she served as City Manager for the City of Aventura. During her 27 years with the City of Coral Springs, Susan served as Deputy City Manager, Director of Financial Services, Director of Human Resources, and City Controller. Throughout her career, Susan has been recognized for her leadership in local government, organizational excellence, and financial management. She helped guide Coral Springs in its successful pursuit of the 2007 Malcolm Baldrige Award and Florida Governor’s Sterling Awards in 2003 and 1997. She also served as an examiner for both awards and currently serves as a judge for the Florida Governor’s Sterling Award. Susan serves as a Commissioner for the City of Fort Lauderdale Housing Authority, bringing extensive experience in municipal leadership, financial oversight, and public-sector management to her role. She also serves as a Trustee on the City of Fort Lauderdale Police and Fire Pension Board and on the Board of the Coral Ridge Civic Association. A University of Florida graduate and Florida Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Susan began her career in the private sector as a chief financial officer, senior financial analyst, and senior accountant before moving into public service.

MICHAEL LAMBRECHTS

Mike brings extensive experience in financial planning, community leadership, public service, and nonprofit leadership to his work with the Housing Authority of the City of Fort Lauderdale. As a financial professional, he specializes in helping clients build long-term wealth and manage retirement income through a process-driven approach to comprehensive financial planning. With more than 10 years in the financial services industry, Mike has the experience and resources to help navigate complex financial challenges. Mike is also deeply involved in the South Florida community. He serves as Chairman of the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) Florida, a 19,000-member organization, as well as President of the CCA of Broward County and a member of the CCA National Board. His commitment to public service extends to several boards supporting the City of Fort Lauderdale, and he is a graduate of Leadership Broward Class 37. Mike also serves on the Audit Committee for the Broward County Housing Authority, providing financial oversight for an organization with nearly $200 million in assets. This experience gives him a unique perspective on financial stewardship, accountability, and the importance of strong governance in serving the Broward County community. Mike earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics from Florida State University. Outside of work and community service, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Caroline, and being outdoors and on the water.


Jeff Lowe

Jeffrey Lowe

Jeff Lowe has numerous finance experience in both the private and public sectors. He served as the first Treasurer at Nova Southeastern University for 14 years while earning a Master in Public Administration. Jeff’s public sector experience includes the CFO of the City of Hallandale Beach, Treasurer for City of Delray Beach and served as Treasure for the City of Fort Lauderdale. He has experience on various Not For Profit boards throughout Broward County. Most recently he served as Chairman of the Budget Advisory Board for the City of Fort Lauderdale. Jeff was a member of the Broward County Housing Authority serving for many years as Chairman of the Finance Committee. He has served on the Board of Directors for Kids in Distress, ArtServe, and Winterfest. He is also a graduate of both Leadership Broward and Leadership Florida.


COMMISSIONER

Dr. Nicholas Tranakas

Doctor Nicholas Tranakas has been in private practice with Broward Surgical Associates for 14 years. He has completed a surgical oncology fellowship at Sylvester Cancer Center. His specialty is the surgical treatment of cancer, particularly cancer of the breast, melanoma, sarcoma, stomach, colon, and esophagus. He frequently lectures and provides authoritative interviews for news stories about cancer. Dr. Tranakas has served on the Board of Commissioners for the Housing Authority of the City of Ft. Lauderdale since 2006.
